From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The videotaped beating of a gay man will be discussed by the Santa Clara County Human Relations Commission, according to director Jim McEntee. The visual evidence should help focus attention on the problem of hate crimes in the area, especially those directed at gays and lesbians, he added. William Kiley, 44, gave copies of his videotape to several television stations and to the San Jose Police Department. No arrests have been made. Police said an investigation was continuing. On the tape, a young man is seen delivering several punches to Kiley, who does not fight back. Kiley, who said some neighbors had been verbally harassing him for years because he is gay, set up a camera at the front window of his house before going across the street to water the lawn at another house he owns.
