Tierra, Others to Perform at Benefit Concert

Share

Tierra, El Chicano and Winterhawk will perform at the Bandstand on June 30, at the first of a series of benefit concerts being planned for the North Orange County Community Clinic.

The clinic is a teaching facility of the UCI Medical Center that provides physical and mental health services to low-income patients. State support for both Indigent Medical Services and Medi-Cal have been cut in recent years. As a result, many private clinics have stopped serving uninsured and underinsured patients, increasing the demands on public clinics such as the North County clinic, administrator Ralph Westrum explained.

Officials hope a regular series of benefit shows, to continue for the rest of the year, will help the clinic maintain its services to indigents.

For the first show, the organizers have lined up two acts that mix Latin music influences with Top 40 pop sensibilities--Tierra and El Chicano.

The concert will take place from noon to 5 p.m. The Bandstand is at 1721 S. Manchester Ave. Tickets are $10. Information: (714) 956-1410.
