COSTA MESA : City Offers Grants to Promote Events

Nonprofit organizations planning cultural or public service events can apply for city funds to help pay for advertising and promotion.

Interested groups must be nonprofit corporations or unincorporated associations based in Costa Mesa.

They cannot be the recipients of grants from other city programs during the fiscal year, and at least 50% of their budget must come from sources other than the city.

To qualify for funding, a group must hold activities that benefit Costa Mesa and its residents, enhance the city's image, exhibit civic pride and serve a charitable, philanthropic, cultural or educational purpose.

Applicants must show that they offer events with broad-based support and involvement from the community.

They must also encourage tourism in the city and promote community cultural events and projects; advertise city services and programs; promote city health and safety programs.

To obtain applications, groups can contact the city manager's office at (714) 754-5327.

Applications must be submitted to City Hall at 77 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa by 5 p.m. on July 15.
