Apartment Blaze Injures Firefighter

An apartment complex suffered about $20,000 in damage late Saturday when flames erupted in a garage, authorities said. One fireman was injured while battling the blaze.

The fire broke out about 11:52 p.m. at the Villa Garden Apartments, 1742 W. Lincoln Ave., Anaheim Fire Department officials said. The structure suffered $15,000 in damage, and loss of contents accounted for another $5,000, officials said.

Anaheim fireman Albert Watson, 30, suffered a severe cut on his hand, according to a Fire Department spokesman.

Seventeen firefighters, under the direction of Capt. Bruce Jacboson, took about 20 minutes to control the blaze, the spokesman added. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
