Glendora : 12th Water Well Is OKd
The Glendora City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to pay a Chino firm $179,135 to drill the city’s 12th water well.
City Engineer Richard Cantwell said the new well will provide a more reliable source of water during the summer than the other city wells, which occasionally run dry. He said McCalla Brothers, a division of Layne-Western Co., will drill a hole and install the pipe. The pump and related equipment will be installed later, at a cost of about $300,000.
Cantwell said the well should be supplying water by April, 1992. He said the well will be drilled in an area untainted by the San Gabriel Valley’s extensive ground-water pollution.
