Seattle SuperSonic owner Barry Ackerley called off plans to build an 18,000-seat arena near the Kingdome. Ackerley has said repeatedly that the Seattle Coliseum, built for the 1962 World Fair, is too old and too small for his team.
A recent study estimated the cost at $82 million to bring the Coliseum up to NBA standards.
Ackerley said the team will stay in Seattle.
