Four From Marina Receive Volleyball Honors
Four Marina High School boys’ volleyball players have been named to Volleyball Monthly Magazine’s Fabulous 50 All-America team.
Brant Shelor, John Mull, Greg Gratteau and Dennis Winners were among 11 Orange County players selected. They helped Marina to a third-place finish in the Sunset League and the quarterfinals of the Southern Section 4-A playoffs.
Shelor is headed to Stanford on a volleyball scholarship, Mull will attend UC Santa Barbara and Gratteau will play at UC Irvine. Winners is undecided on his college choice.
Joining the Marina players on the All-America team were Huntington Beach’s Andy Kijewski and Matt Taylor, The Times Orange County player of the year. Taylor has orally committed to UCLA; Kijewski is undecided.
Capistrano Valley and Dana Hills each had two players on the team. Capistrano Valley had Eric Olson and Brian Godshaw, Dana Hills had Travis Barr and Jacob Watt.
Barr and Watt are headed to UC Santa Barbara. Olson and Godshaw are undecided.
Also named to the team was Woodbridge’s Todd Beebe, a member of The Times’ all-county first team. Beebe will play at Pepperdine next season.
