LA HABRA : Elks Lodge to Host Party for Veterans
The La Habra Elks Lodge will host the city’s Desert Storm Welcome Home party Saturday in a “good ol’ American way,” event organizers say.
Veterans of all wars are invited to attend and are encouraged to wear their military uniforms, including those veterans living in neighboring cities.
“They are all invited because we want to honor all of them,” said Judy Maxwell, coordinator of the celebration.
Maxwell said an “American meal” of hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad and other fare will be sold, but it will be served free of charge to all military personnel who present proper identification.
Admission to the club is free for everyone.
The entertainment bill features the Hollywood Mobile USO and a local dance troupe called Huff ‘n’ Puff, whose members range in age from 60 to 82. The team will perform patriotic dances.
The party runs from noon to 5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 541 E. Whittier Blvd. For more information, call Judy Maxwell at (213) 691-5590.
