Ballestreri was driving northbound on Interstate 5, south of the 5th Street overpass in downtown San Diego, when Ottilige’s car hit her vehicle, California Highway Patrol Officer Phil Konstantin said.

Ottilige entered I-5 from the Hawthorn Street off-ramp and was going the wrong way, Konstantin said. Both were driving about 55 m.p.h., Konstantin said.
