The Athletics Congress announced the reduction of suspensions for distance runner Kathy Franey of Topsfield, Mass., and decathlete Gary Kinder of Charlottesville, Va. Both were suspended for two years for failing to appear for drug testing the week of March 11. Franey’s suspension was reduced to six months and Kinder’s to three months.
