A 21-year-old woman was shot when she stepped out of a house after she heard some shots fired next door, authorities said.
Alicia Salazar is in good condition at Mercy Hospital, a spokesman said.
Salazar, from Tijuana, heard some shots about 9:15 p.m. Thursday at a house in the 900 block of Cotton Street, said San Diego Police Lt. Dan Berglund.
She went out to see what was happening and was also shot, Berglund said.
When police officers arrived, they found the body of a man lying face up in the back yard, Berglund said. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was shot several times in the upper body. Investigators believe a rifle was used, Berglund said.
The killing appeared to be drug-related, he said. Detectives found drugs and money at the house, Berglund said.
Witnesses saw three men drive away from the shooting in a white pickup truck. Police have made no arrests.
