PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Marinovich Probably Won’t Face 49ers
- Share via
Rookie Todd Marinovich will make his first appearance in a Raider uniform Saturday in the exhibition opener against the San Francisco 49ers at the Coliseum. Appearances, though, can be deceiving.
Coach Art Shell said Monday it will be difficult to use all four quarterbacks, meaning Marinovich probably won’t play because he ranks behind Jay Schroeder, Vince Evans and Steve Beuerlein.
Schroeder is expected to play less than a quarter.
Injuries: Linebackers Aaron Wallace and Rikki Ellison sat out practice because of hip injuries.
Schroeder returned to practice after a four-day bout with flu. . . . Veteran Jerry Robinson, 34, who is fighting off heated competition at outside linebacker, is splitting time in practice as an inside linebacker. . . . Still no word on the four remaining unsigned veterans--Don Mosebar, Scott Davis, Bruce Wilkerson and Bob Golic.
