A Long Beach City College employee was shot four times on campus Thursday after apparently being lured to his car to repair a flat tire, authorities said.

Mark Barry, 48, who works in the college’s accounting office, received a telephone call saying that he had a flat tire, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. He went to the car, and as he was changing the tire, he was shot.

He was in stable condition at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, deputies said.

They are seeking an assailant described only as a white male.
