BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : No Trade for Mitchell Is Planned

Fred Claire, Dodger vice president, scoffed at reports that he was going to trade for Kevin Mitchell of the San Francisco Giants. Those reports had come from the sometimes eccentric Mitchell.

“Put that under the heading of fiction,” Claire said.

Mike Morgan said that his inner ear infection and injured right toe have healed. “For the first time in a couple of weeks, I feel great,” Morgan said. “Even in my last start (Tuesday), I felt a little light-headed and woozy, but today it’s like nothing has ever happened. And my foot is finally fine.”

Morgan will face the Expos’ Dennis Martinez Sunday.
