Woods Wins Twice in Junior Amateur
Tiger Woods reached the quarterfinals of the USGA Junior Amateur Championships with two match-play victories Friday at the Bay Hill Club.
Woods, of Cypress, defeated Pat Fry of Fort Collins, Colo., 5 and 3, in the morning match, and then beat Don Padget of Fairlawn, Ohio, 2-up, on the 7,027-yard course.
In the second match, Woods was 1-up heading into the 18th. However, Padget drove into the rough and made bogey, while Woods parred it.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played today, with the final Sunday.
