Sloan Finishes Second in National Diving Competition

Amy Sloan of Lake Forest finished second in the one-meter springboard competition Saturday in the girls’ 14-15 division of the Speedo/U.S. Diving Junior Olympic Championships in Clayton, Mo.
Angie Tropsel of Oxford, Ind., won the event with 377.90 points. Sloan had 359.45. Summer Brown of Mission Viejo was fourth with 355.95 points.
In the boys’ 16-18 platform diving competition:
Ricky Wood of Simi Valley won the event with 469.00 points, and Nate Smith of Laguna Niguel was fifth at 412.65. Smith had finished sixth in the three-meter competition Friday.
All the Orange County performers are members of the Mission Viejo Nadadores’ club.
