A 15-year old girl was killed and three other teen-agers wounded in a drive-by shooting outside a San Bernardino theater, police said.

The theater was showing the film “Boyz N the Hood,” but police said they could not establish that the movie had any connection with the shooting. Several films were being shown at the eight-screen theater.

Police said the three surviving victims were in stable condition at local hospitals. Police spokeswoman Sherrie Guerrero said five to six shots were fired. Whether the dead girl or the others were the intended targets was not immediately known, she said.

Diane Parker, a registered nurse, said that when the shooting broke out she was inside the theater with her husband waiting to see another movie.

“I rushed outside and I saw this girl on the sidewalk and I immediately tried applying CPR, but she just had no pulse,” Parker said. “I heard later that she died.”

Parker said several other nurses and firefighters were in the audiences at the theaters. “They were all working on the other kids,” she said.

Moments later another person was wounded in a drive-by shooting about a block from the theater, but there did not appear to be any connection between the two incidents, police said.

Nationwide, at least one person has been killed and more than 30 injured in shootings at theaters showing “Boyz N the Hood.”
