BOXING : Patterson 42-2 After TKO in 4

Top-ranked junior featherweight Tracy Harris Patterson, the adopted son of former heavyweight champion Floyd Patterson, scored a fourth-round technical knockout over Gerardo Sanchez on Saturday night.

Patterson, 26, knocked Sanchez down in the fourth round with a right uppercut at 1:31. It was the third knockdown of the round, automatically stopping the fight. The victory ran Patterson’s record to 42-2 with 31 knockouts.

Patterson, the top-rated contender in the World Boxing Assn. and the World Boxing Council, will meet Daniel Zaragosa for the WBC title this fall.

Sanchez, who along with Patterson weighed in at 125, fell to 29-10.

In other scheduled 10-round fights at Ohio Center, top-ranked IBF featherweight Tom Johnson of Detroit recorded a TKO over Arturo Padilla of Mexico and featherweight Albert Rendon of San Antonio won a unanimous decision over Renardo Carter of Detroit.

Johnson, 26, stopped Padilla at 2:25 in the fourth round to improve to 25-1-1 with 17 knockouts. Padilla fell to 11-5-2.

Rendon improved to 14-6-1 by defeating Carter (24-3-1).
