Man Dies After Losing Consciousness in Jail
A robbery suspect in custody at Burbank City Jail was found unconscious in his jail cell Sunday morning and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, Burbank police said.
Police said he appeared to die of natural causes but would not elaborate.
The 44-year-old Sepulveda man, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was found in his cell at 8:40 a.m., Sgt. Robert Kight said. A nursing supervisor at Thompson Memorial Medical Center would not divulge details of the man’s death.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said the cause of death had not been determined because an autopsy had not been performed by late Sunday.
