PRO FOOTBALL : DAILY REPORT : RAMS : McGee Expected to Return to Camp Today

Share

Fullback Buford McGee was expected to agree on a two-year deal Wednesday night, and probably will report to camp today. That leaves the team with two holdouts: No. 1 pick Todd Lyght and tackle Irv Pankey. Lyght’s agent, Bob Woolf, is expected to arrive today and begin negotiations with the Rams immediately. McGee is fully recovered from a wrist injury, and Coach John Robinson said McGee is ready to begin full contact workout. Last season, McGee rushed for 234 yards and caught 47 passes for 388 yards and four touchdowns.

Defensive end Kevin Greene injured his right triceps during practice Wednesday and is expected to be out about a week.

Linebacker Frank Stams (tightness in thigh), offensive tackle Robert Cox (sore knee) and defensive end Bill Hawkins (bruised shoulder) sat out Wednesday’s practice, but their injuries are considered minor and all three should return today.

Offensive guard Duval Love, who sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee 2 1/2 weeks ago and wasn’t expected to return until the Sept. 1 season opener against Phoenix, practiced Wednesday. He probably will play in Saturday night’s exhibition game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Offensive tackle Gerald Perry, who injured his right knee two weeks ago, also returned to practice Wednesday, but Ram Coach John Robinson said Love’s chances of playing Saturday were much better than Perry’s. . . . Robinson said running back Marcus Dupree returned to Mississippi Wednesday night to “take care of personal business,” but will return in time for Friday’s practice at Rams Park.
