UNLV Granted Delay in NCAA Hearings
Hearings on NCAA allegations against the Nevada Las Vegas basketball program have been postponed for about 45 days to give UNLV attorneys time to review the evidence.
The delay means a final determination by the NCAA on alleged rule infractions may not be issued until next year, UNLV attorney Brad Booke said.
University officials were scheduled to meet Sept. 9-11 with NCAA enforcement staff in Kansas City to review the association’s evidence in the case. A final hearing was set for late September in Boston with the NCAA Committee on Infractions.
A law passed by the Nevada Legislature requires the NCAA to give Nevada schools an opportunity to review evidence at least 30 days before proceedings begin.
