Defensive tackle Nolan Harrison, a sixth-round draft choice, continued his bid to make the Raider roster with another solid performance Saturday against the Chicago Bears at the Coliseum. Harrison had two tackles and a sack in the Raiders’ 13-10 victory.

“I wanted to come in and show I could be the future,” he said afterward. “I didn’t think I could be a now.”

Wide receiver Jamie Holland bettered his chances with a 32-yard scoring reception and a 29-yard kickoff return.

“Every time you get a chance to make a play, you’d better make something happen if you want to be around,” Holland said.

Holland had an opportunity to sign with the Bears in the off-season as a Plan B free agent but elected to take his chances with the Raiders.

Injuries:

--Left guard Steve Wisniewski did not play because of a sprained left ankle.

--Nose tackle Bob Golic suffered a first-half thigh bruise when he collided with a teammate. Golic saw the hit coming. “I said to myself, ‘This is going to hurt,’ ” he said. “Then I jumped up. And it did (hurt).” The injury is not believed to be serious.

As if the numbers weren’t stacked against him already, the Raiders last Thursday asked Vance Mueller to switch from fullback to tailback, where he’s competing against Marcus Allen, Roger Craig and Greg Bell.

Mueller, a six-year veteran from Occidental, made the most of it with a 33-yard run that set up the tying touchdown Saturday.

“The competition gets worse every year,” Mueller said. “This year is probably the toughest to be on this team as a running back. I’ve been behind Heisman Trophy winners since I’ve been here. It’s nothing new.”
