3-Year-Old on Bike Killed in Traffic
A 3-year-old girl on a bicycle with training wheels was fatally struck by a Jeep when she coasted down a driveway and into traffic Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol said.
Elizabeth Englebright of Laguna Hills was pronounced dead at Mission Hospital Regional Center at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
An hour before, Elizabeth was biking with her aunt) in a business driveway when her bike coasted down the incline and into traffic on Moulton Parkway, north of La Paz Road, CHP Officer Steve Bell said.
The driver of the Jeep was traveling at 35 to 40 m.p.h., and she tried to swerve away, Bell said.
“Witnesses said the little girl rode right out into traffic,” Bell said. The driver was not cited.
