Nursing Home Deserves Praise

Share

My mother was in Camarillo Convalescent Hospital from August, 1988, until her death in October, 1990, and the conditions described in your article of Aug. 25 (“Nursing Home Cited 9 Times, Fined $30,000”) are very remote from those I observed.

Mother was a bed patient during her stay at Camarillo hospital, and during those two years, she never had one bedsore. This I attribute to the care given her. The staff and attendants made sure that she was turned from one side to the other every two hours and very carefully placed pillows at all pressure points to prevent bedsores.

I visited my mother just about every day, and not always at the same time, so I had ample opportunity to observe the care that she was given as well as that given other patients in the facility.

Negative experiences make more sensational headlines and sell more papers, but I felt I had to share my positive experiences with your readers.
