Michael Andretti made several daring passes to overcome an earlier stall in the pits and win the Vancouver Molson-Indy.
Andretti’s fifth victory of the season, equaling his career best, cut Bobby Rahal’s lead in the CART PPG Cup championship race to 157-154, with four of 17 races remaining.
Andretti beat Rahal to the finish by 11.58 seconds, averaging 93.888 m.p.h. on the 1.677-mile, 10-turn temporary circuit. He won $138,920.
