Santee
Residents of a Santee neighborhood were evacuated for two hours when a pipe bomb was found in the front yard of a home, the Sheriff’s Department reported Thursday.
The 8-inch, steel pipe bomb was found shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 9900 block of Lake Canyon Court, a Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said. The resident who found the bomb in his front yard called the Santee Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies.
After examining the device, investigators of the sheriff’s bomb and arson unit ordered the evacuation of residents on Lake Canyon Court and nearby Lake Canyon Road. No one was injured in the incident, and the bomb squad disarmed the device, Sgt. Conrad Grayson of the squad said.
The resident, whose name was not released, told investigators that the pipe bomb was one in a series of violent incidents against him. An investigation is continuing.
