PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Pankey Expected to Start for Colts
Former Ram Irv Pankey, traded to Indianapolis after a contract dispute, probably will start at left tackle Sunday against the Raiders at the Coliseum, Colt Coach Ron Meyer said.
The Colts (0-2) will probably move Bubba Paris, recently signed after being released by the San Francisco 49ers, to left guard.
Former Ram Eric Dickerson will make his first appearance at the Coliseum when the Colts play the Raiders.
Last week, Dickerson shoved Indianapolis News reporter Tom Rietmann after being asked a question about returning to Los Angeles for the Raider game.
Monday, Dickerson held a private meeting on the practice field with his offensive line to discuss problems relating to the Colts’ winless start.
“We just wanted to let each other know how we feel, tell each other what we think,” he told the Associated Press. “If some feelings get hurt, so be it. It’s very vital we have a change of attitude.”
Dickerson has rushed for 124 yards in 34 carries during the season’s first two games, averaging 3.6 yards a carry. He needs 94 yards to pass Franco Harris and move into fourth place on the NFL’s all-time rushing list.
