COLLEGE ROUNDUP : CSUN Ends Drought in Overtime Soccer Win

Share

The drought has ended.

For one team, anyway.

It took two periods of overtime for the Cal State Northridge men’s soccer team to take a 1-0 nonconference decision from UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday night in Santa Barbara, but the Matadors finally broke through with their first goal of the season.

Armando Valdivia kicked a rebound through at 7 minutes 17 seconds of the second overtime to lead Northridge to the victory. Northridge, which was blanked in its loss to UC Irvine last Saturday, is 1-1. Santa Barbara, which has not scored this season, is 0-2.

The scoring opportunity unfolded when John Alevras was awarded a penalty kick from 15 yards.
