Glendale : Interim Fire Chief Named
Assistant Fire Chief Richard Hinz, a 27-year Fire Department veteran, was named acting chief last week and is one of six high-ranking officials within the department being considered to fill the post permanently.
Glendale City Manager David Ramsay on Friday appointed Hinz, 52, to the interim position, replacing John Montenero, who this week became fire chief in Santa Monica.
Hinz and five others who have been battalion chiefs for at least four years and have been with the department for more than 10 years are eligible for the chief’s post, Ramsay said.
A permanent appointment is expected to be announced within 60 days.
