An Oxnard man was arrested Friday on suspicion of assaulting his mother with a hammer, Oxnard police said.
David Bell, 26, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.
According to police, Bell’s mother, Clarrissa, 57, was sitting in the living room of her home on Napa Street when her son, who is 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 525 pounds, approached from behind and struck her several times with a hammer. He then fled in his mother’s car, police said.
Police said they had no immediate motive for the attack. The woman was listed in serious condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
