Fallbrook junior Milena Glusac overcame a bout with the flu and turned in the fastest girls’ time in the Division I junior/senior race of the Laguna Hills Cross-Country Invitational Saturday at Laguna Hills High.
Glusac, who was third in the Division II state cross-country meet last year, covered the three-mile course in 16 minutes, 49 seconds.
“(Friday) night, I had the stomach flu--it must have been the 24-hour flu, but I felt a lot better during the first two miles of the race. I was feeling real good at the finish,” said Glusac, whose sophomore record of 17:15 here last year was broken by Carrie Garritson. Garritson, from Sunny Hills High, won the Division II race in 16:53 and was second overall.
