St. Louis Cardinal reliever Todd Worrell, one day after storming out of the clubhouse because the team would not activate him, decided to play in the winter instructional league.

Saturday, Worrell blasted the team and said he would not play this fall, but Manager Joe Torre said the situation was smoothed over Sunday.

Worrell hasn’t pitched since September of 1989. He has been attempting a comeback after surgery on his elbow and threw in two simulated games last week.
