Share

John McLaughlin, Jackie Kennedy and Francis Ford Coppola give the weekend a dose of star power.

“Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse,” premiering tonight on Showtime at 10 p.m., documents the making of Coppola’s controversial Vietnam epic, “Apocalypse Now.” Shot by the filmmaker’s wife, Eleanor, who accompanied her husband on location in the Philippines during the 238-day ordeal, the documentary includes frank and sometimes desperate interviews with the principals involved in the making of the movie, which starred Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall and Martin Sheen.

“The McLaughlin Group,” the always contentious public affairs show, celebrates its 10th anniversary and 500th show Sunday at 9 a.m. on Channel 4. Hosted by John McLaughlin, this special program includes lively clips from past programs and the host’s regular sparring partners: Fred Barnes, Morton Kondracke, Jack Germond and Patrick J. Buchanan.
