A 38-foot sailboat caught fire Monday in San Diego Bay, forcing the passengers to abandon the vessel, police said.
The Musashi was sailing at 3:25 p.m. off Ballast Point, at the mouth of San Diego Bay, when a fire broke out, Harbor Police said. The boat’s two occupants abandoned ship and were picked up by police, while three fireboats extinguished the blaze.
The cause of the fire was not known, and the boat was towed to Shelter Island, police said. The names of the passengers and a damage estimate were not released. There were no injuries, and no one was cited, police said.
