A Number One Wins at Hawthorne

CHICAGO —
A Number One closed fastest under Garrett Gomez to win the $19,000 Esposa Purse by almost two lengths Tuesday at Hawthorne Race Course.
Ten Stars, who set the pace in the 7 1/2-furlong turf race for fillies and mares, finished second before a crowd of 3,257. Ioya came from far back to finish third.
The winner paid $13.60, $6.40 and $3.80 and was timed in 1:29 4/-5. Ten Stars returned $13.60 and $5.60 and Ioya was worth $2.80.
