COUNTYWIDE : Commuters Asked to Forgo Cars 1 Day
The Ventura County Transportation Commission has designated Tuesday as Park-In Day, when commuters are encouraged to leave their cars at home.
The commission suggests that commuters travel to work by bicycle, foot, car-pool or bus to show commitment to clean air and solving traffic problems. Choosing one of those alternatives one day a week year-round is also urged.
Coupons for free bus rides for Park-In Day, the highlight of Traffic Awareness Month, are available by calling the commission at 654-2888. Participating bus services include South Coast Area Transit, County Interconnect Bus System, Ojai Trolley, Moorpark City Bus System, Fillmore Area Transit, Camarillo Area Transit, Simi Valley Transit and Thousand Oaks Transit.
