WEEKEND TV : Wide World of Nature, Drugs, Death

The natural world, the drug underworld and the world of the dead fill out the television landscape this weekend.
“Australia: A Continent at Odds,” Sunday at 6 p.m. on TBS, follows Jean-Michel Cousteau and crew as they examine the environmental and political conflicts that face Tasmanians, who are attempting to preserve their natural world in the face of pollution and deforestation.
“Shark Chronicles,” a new “World of Discovery” special airing at 7 p.m. Sunday (7)(3)(10)(42), features a look at sharks from the North Pole to Australia through the lens of underwater photographer Al Giddings.
In a follow-up to last year’s documentary about Los Angeles’ ongoing battle against drugs, “Drug Watch L.A.: Second Edition,” at 8 p.m. Sunday on KTLA Channel 5, reports on strategies to keep drugs and dealers from spreading into new neighborhoods, female drug users and K-9 dogs who sniff out drugs.
And in honor of Halloween, the second annual “Horror Hall of Fame,” a special that pays tribute to the horror film genre, screens at 9 p.m. Sunday on KCAL Channel 9.
