Officer Faces Trial in Midnight Beach Attack
A police officer was ordered to stand trial on charges of attempted murder and attempted armed robbery in a bloody, midnight attack in August on three swimmers on Torrey Pines State Beach.
Municipal Judge Ronald Domnitz said the evidence presented against San Diego Police Officer Henry Hubbard, 29, during a two-day preliminary hearing was strong and set a Nov. 6 Superior Cout arraignment date.
Hubbard is being held on $2-million bail. He is the prime suspect in a series of rapes and robberies at San Diego beaches. He is charged with shooting two men who came to the aid of a 21-year-old female companion accosted by a stocking-masked gunman.
