A San Diego County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol in Vista early Saturday caught a suspect who is wanted in an attempted murder that occurred earlier this month, authorities said.

Deputies arrested Michael Lloyd Clark, also known as “the gangster,” after he was seen driving near the intersection of Apollo Street and East Indian Rock Road around 4:20 a.m., a spokesman said.

Clark is believed to be responsible for the Oct. 9 attempted murder of Joe Hernandez, 20, of Oceanside.

Clark was booked into County Jail in Vista on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held without bail.
