Hank Aaron, executive vice president of the Braves and a member of league championship teams when the franchise was in Milwaukee, said the key to the Atlanta turnaround was that the club finally settled on a philosophy of building with young pitchers and stuck with it.

“And it’s easier to win a championship now than when I was a player because all you have to do is add one or two free agents if you have the right foundation, as we did.

“I think this club can be in this position for many years if we can keep it together.”
