Man Dies When Truck Hits Tree

BREA — A 43-year-old Chino man was fatally hurt early Sunday when his truck hit a tree off Carbon Canyon Road.
Brea Police Department officials said Armando Zavala was traveling east on Carbon Canyon about 2 miles east of Valencia Avenue when his 1976 Ford pickup left the road and struck the tree, then rolled down a 20-foot embankment.
Zavala was dead on arrival at Brea Community Hospital. Police believe that alcohol was involved in the crash, Lt. Jim Winder said.
