OAK VIEW : Softball Games to Help Make-A-Wish

Nine softball teams will compete Saturday and Sunday in the third annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Tournament at Oak Dell Park in Oak View.

All proceeds will benefit the Camarillo chapter of the foundation and will be used to fulfill wishes of critically ill children in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

The event is dedicated to the memory of Zoe Carruthers, a 15-year-old cancer victim from Ojai.

Before her death in January, the foundation made it possible for her to meet football player Joe Montana and to attend an NFL Pro Bowl game in Hawaii.

The action will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday when the Ojai Valley Bowl team meets the crew from Maxie’s.

A game between the Hut and the Deer Lodge teams at 5:30 p.m. will be followed at 7 p.m. by a match between the squads from Arcade Beauty and the Locker Market.

The championship game of the tournament is scheduled to begin 4 p.m. Sunday.
