LAX Back to Normal After Closure Caused by Fog

Operations at Los Angeles International Airport returned to normal Friday morning after nighttime fog forced the diversion of 30 planes to alternate landing sites for about an hour.
The aircraft were diverted to Ontario and Burbank airports in Los Angeles County and to San Francisco and Las Vegas, said FAA Duty Officer Jerry Acosta.
The closure began at 4 p.m. Thursday, when visibility was reduced to about 800 feet, said airport spokeswoman Diane Resseman. The fog did not cause significant traffic problems around the airport, said Officer Steve Enos of the Los Angeles Police Department.
