NEWPORT BEACH : Applications Close for City Manager Job

Friday was the last day to apply for the city manager’s job, with well over 100 people seeking the post.

A consulting firm, Ralph Anderson Associates, hopes to narrow the list to 20 names or less by the end of November, officials said.

Although officials have been mum about applicants’ identities, former Orange County Administrative Officer Larry Parrish--now a Sacramento lobbyist--has said he is interested.

The City Council, which will make the final selection, expects to begin interviewing finalists in early December.

The new manager will replace 20-year veteran Robert L. Wynn.
