Van Nuys 32, Grant 9--Senior tailback Harold Boudreaux rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns and Van Nuys (4-4, 3-3) clinched at least a tie for the league title with the easy win at home.
Boudreaux had 26 carries and scored on runs of 11, one, 16 and three yards.
Grant (3-6, 2-4) opened the scoring with a 32-yard field goal by Carlos Lemus in the second quarter, but the Wolves dominated from that point. On the ensuing possession, they drove 77 yards in 10 plays, Boudreaux accounting for every yard of the march--66 on the ground.
After Van Nuys’ last touchdown--a 67-yard interception return by Gary Guemiksizian--the Wolves refused to kick the extra point in what players later said was a tribute to the Lakers’ Magic Johnson, who wore No. 32 during his 12-year career.
