Servite High School’s Adam Anderson said Friday he has made an oral commitment to play basketball at Santa Clara next season.

Anderson, a 6-foot-5 forward, said he made the decision after visiting the Santa Clara campus during the summer.

“I like it there because the coaches didn’t make any false promises,” Anderson said. “They didn’t put me up in any fancy hotel, they put me in a dorm room. They didn’t sugarcoat anything.”

Anderson, a two-year starter, helped the Friars win the State Division III championship as a sophomore. Last season, he led the Friars to the Southern Section 3-AA championship and was named second-team All-Orange County.

Ocean View High School outfielder Rich Crowe has orally committed to Stanford and is expected to sign a letter of intent with the Cardinal, according to Ocean View baseball Coach Steve Barrett.

Crowe batted .467 with 10 home runs and 26 runs batted in as Ocean View’s designated hitter last season, earning All-Southern Section Division 5-A honors. He will play right field for the Seahawks this season.

Crowe also made a recruiting trip to Arizona State before making his decision. He is projected to graduate with a 4.6 grade-point average.
