SPORTS ON WEEKEND TV : No. 1 Florida State Meets No. 2 Miami
Today’s much-awaited Miami (Fla.)-Florida State college football game should get most of the weekend’s television sports attention, while the Rams and Lakers highlight a light Sunday schedule.
College Football: Top-ranked Florida State (10-0) will meet No. 2 Miami (Fla.) (8-0) at 9 a.m. today on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. No. 23 Brigham Young (7-3) will play San Diego State (8-2) (7:30 p.m., ESPN) for the WAC championship. Of local interest, UCLA (6-3) will play host to Oregon (3-6) at 12:30 p.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42 and USC (3-6) will visit Arizona (3-6) at 3:30 p.m. on Prime Ticket.
Pro Football: The Rams (3-7) will travel to Pontiac, Mich., for their 1 p.m. game Sunday against the Detroit Lions on Channels 2 and 8. The Denver Broncos (7-3) and Kansas City Chiefs (7-3) will meet at 10 a.m. on KNBC Channel 4 and KNSD Channel 39. ESPN’s 5 p.m. game will match the Cleveland Browns (4-6) and Houston Oilers (8-2).
Other Sports: The Kings and Lakers are at home this weekend and Prime Ticket will have coverage of both 7:30 p.m. The Detroit Red Wings will play the Kings tonight, and the Atlanta Hawks will come to the Forum Sunday.
