Coach Anson Dorrance doesn’t want his team to be overconfident as the United States takes its 3-0 record into the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Championship today against Taiwan at Foshan, China.
“If we don’t play well, we don’t win,” said Dorrance, whose team beat Japan, 3-0, on the same field last Thursday. “We’ve only played Taiwan once, in the final of their tournament four years ago, and they beat us.”
The remaining quarterfinals send China against Sweden in Canton, Norway against Italy in Jiangmen and Germany against Denmark in Zhongshan.
