PRO FOOTBALL : RAMS : Gibbs Nervous About Sunday’s Game
Coach Joe Gibbs’ Washington Redskins are 11-1, but he still says he is nervous about playing the 3-9 Rams on Sunday, especially coming off last week’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Has Gibbs ever not been nervous about a game?
“Never. To be honest with you, never,” Gibbs said with a chuckle. “I see people in sports sometimes and they say, man, we’re going to kill these guys. And I’ve never felt that way, and I think I’m a realist.
“Because in football I don’t think you can feel that way because the reality is that anybody in this league can beat anybody else, and it happens every week and last week it happened to six division leaders.
“I just feel like when I look on the films (of the Rams), I see good football players and I know what kind of coaches they have.
“I see the games that they play and how close they are to people, and I feel like this will be a close game for us, I really do.”
The Rams announced that Sunday’s game at Anaheim Stadium is officially a sellout and will be televised locally. . . . The Rams are expected to activate linebacker Terry Crews off the practice squad.
