MOORPARK : Motorcyclist Hurt While Practicing

A professional motorcycle rider from Moorpark was reported in stable condition Wednesday at a Simi Valley hospital after he was injured in an accident Tuesday during a practice session.
Duane Benner, 21, received a head injury in the accident, which the California Highway Patrol said occurred at the Hondaland facility off Brea Canyon Road in Simi Valley on land owned by the Professional Circuit Racing Team.
According to the CHP, Benner drove off a six-foot dirt mound, and his motorcycle became airborne. He landed awkwardly with the motorcycle falling on him, the CHP said.
Benner was wearing protective gear when he crashed, the CHP added.
After the 10:40 a.m. accident, Benner was flown by helicopter to the Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, where he remained hospitalized Wednesday.
